Mauritzen Manor: Cribs Edition

Our front door with my favorite fall wreath

Our host, Hardy Mauritzen, coming to you live from Carrollton, Texas.

The guest bedroom

Cory's office....mac and guitar...it just doesn't get much better than that!

The guest bathroom

The "man zone"

Our fireplace with the gift that Cory gave me for our wedding hanging over the mantel...it says "Mauritzen" in case it's hard to read.

The living room

The bedroom

Our dresser that we bought with money we earned at a garage sale.

If this were really MTV Cribs then Cory would jump on the bed and would say "this is where all the magic happens." Also, notice the curtains that my groom hung for me!

Our bathroom

This is where the real magic happens!

Our fridge....no crystal here....just soy milk and crystal light

Breakfast Bar

Dining Area

Thanks for stopping by!
Inaugural Fire

This past week when it got really cold one night we decided to have the first inaugural fire of the Mauritzen household.

Here is Cory busting out his fire making skills.

These are the tools that my mom so graciously snagged for us from someone that was moving and was giving them away. Thanks Mom!

It's not much to look at yet, but just you wait. In honor of Stephanie Shelton we had to bust out singing "Rise Up O' Flame." It was a sight to behold.

Now this is what I call a fire!

My latest obsession...

My latest obsession (this is Kristin by the way) started approximately one year ago. We were visiting our friends Justin and Katherine Cowart in Lindale and they had the most AWESOME coffee/tea/hot cocoa maker. I was hooked! I am not normally the coffee drinker, but there is something about this little contraption that makes me want to consume it in large amounts. Every time we would go to their house I would stare in amazement at this machine and all the different varieties of tea/coffee/hot cocoa. We recently joined a home group through our church and started meeting for the first time about a month ago. Lo and behold they had a Keurig on their counter just waiting for me to enjoy. Last week I enjoyed some nice Pumpkin Spice coffee while we discussed Sacred Marriage. It was so good. Cory and I recently got a gift card from rent.com because we reported our lease to them. Friday night we decided to hit up Bed Bath & Beyond after dinner with our coupons and look what jumped in our cart. My very own Keurig. Come on over for some coffee!

My New Favorite Meal...At Least For Now

This is Cory and I's new favorite meal. We have tried it with both chicken and beef and they are equally great! It is also very healthy. You can find the recipe here. You should make it tonight...because it's the right thing to do!

Butternut Squash...Fear Not!

I decided to get a little creative and live life on the edge one day. Thus, butternut squash was cooked in my kitchen. Cory kept raising his eyebrows and definitely looked apprehensive, but he wolfed it right down. I have to be honest and say that I was apprehensive at first, just for the mere fact that I had to figure out how to cut that beast open! Let's just say make sure you keep all fingers inside the vehicle at ALL times. It's a little scary. But once you get that puppy open, it is just like a pumpkin my friends. Here are a few preparation pictures and the finished product. Yummee! P.S. It tastes almost like a sweet potato, but with the texture of squash.
